Dimsum has always been associated with the Hong Kongese culture, and since Montreal has a large population of Cantonese speaking Canadians, it is inevitable that Cantonese restaurants open their doors around downtown.
It is an art and a lifestyle that Cantonese people are proud of, and in the modern days, even caucasians and other cultures appreciate this type of cuisine. I've grown up having dimsum with my family every weekend, enjoying a hot boiling congee or shrimp dumplings while sipping hot tea. Montreal has a great number of dimsum spots, but I discovered this one in a less popular corner of Chinatown: Chez Maxim Oriental. I liked how it's not crowded (so you can enjoy your meal and actually hear what others say) but the food is relatively great and somewhat different from conventional dimsum.
Whether you're looking for special dimsum or you're looking for a non crowded restaurant that offers great choices, this is perhaps a restaurant on your list.
