BOULANGERIE ANGE (Mail Champlain)

Updated: Oct 4, 2020

Patrice, Patricia and Francis wanted to open a bakery that offers savoury and eco-responsible food choices as well as a good service to its customers. Therefore they created this cozy bakery/cafe called Ange (angel).

As we walk in the main entrance, we can smell the aroma of fresh bread, buttery croissant and the sweetness of desserts. The waiting zone, however, seemed a bit chaoti (perhaps because social distancing is just not possible), but waiting time was not bad. The staff is friendly and are happy to serve, and had great knowledge of their products, while ordering time was quite fast (little tip: you should know what you want before approaching the staff).

As for food, I had the chance to try some of their products. Their sandwiches (I had the prosciuto and chicken sandwiches) are made with fresh ingredients and the taste is fine. The only comment I can give is that presentation is not their strength, but they make it up with their taste. I also tried their apple tart and their flan pie. The apple tart is quite good, and the apple slices that decorates its top attracted my attention. As for the flan, it was a decent pie version, but it was nothing extremely exciting. Finally, their filter coffee was quite good (better than many coffee shops).

The seating and overall environment is quite pleasing and comfortable, whether you need a place to study or simply to catch up with friends. They also have a terrace if you want to take advantage of the sun. However, do know that it's quite crowded on weekends, so if you're looking for a quite place maybe it's not the place.

Overall, it's a great place to go between shopping times at Champlain Mall, for a friends gathering, or when you're looking for bread, croissant, coffee, pizza, sandwiches or pastries.
